XLab Consultancy ("XLab", "we") runs this website. This policy explains what personal information the site collects, what we do with it, and how you can ask us to delete it.

Who we are

XLab Consultancy is a research and advisory firm based in Nigeria. For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at info@xlabconsultancy.com.

What we collect

When you open a research paper

Our research library is free to read, but we ask you to identify yourself first. When you register we record:

• your name and email address;
• your institution or organisation;
• a short description of the research you are working on;
• which paper prompted the registration, and the date.

If you choose Continue with Google, Google sends us your name, email address, and profile picture so the form can be pre-filled. We never receive your Google password, and we ask Google for nothing beyond those basic profile details.

When you use the contact form

We record your first and last name, email address, organisation if you give one, the service you selected, and your message.

Automatically

Our server briefly holds your IP address in memory to limit how many submissions one visitor can make in an hour. It is not written to our database and is discarded as the site runs. The site stores a small amount of data in your own browser to remember that you have registered, so you are not asked again on every paper. That data stays on your device.

We do not use analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

Why we collect it

• To give you access to the paper you asked for.
• To answer enquiries you send us.
• To understand who is using our research, and to occasionally contact you about related work or services where we think it is genuinely relevant.

You can tell us to stop contacting you at any time by replying to any email or writing to the address above.

Who can see it

Registrations and enquiries are stored in a database that XLab controls, and are readable only by XLab staff who need them. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

Some parts of the site are served by third parties, which necessarily see your IP address in order to deliver content to you:

• Google — sign-in, and the fonts the site uses.
• Unsplash and Wix — hosted images and logos.

Links to Facebook and LinkedIn are ordinary links; those sites only learn about you if you click them.

How long we keep it

We keep registrations and enquiries for as long as they are useful for the purposes above, and delete them when they are not. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email info@xlabconsultancy.com and we will respond within a reasonable period. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority — in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, but no website can promise perfect security. Please do not send us sensitive personal information through the contact form.

Changes

If we change what we collect or what we do with it, we will update this page and the date at the top.
